ANTIQUARIES
Document signed by eight antiquaries, 1 page folio, 22 February 1827 (small repair). Proposing John Rouse for membership of the Royal Society of Antiquaries.

The signatories are:
 Thomas Crofton Croker (1798-1854, Irish antiquary)
 Sir Samuel Rush Meyrick (1783-1848, antiquary)
 Sir Thomas Lawrence (1769-1830, President of the Royal Academy
 Sir William Beechey (1753-1839, painter, RA)
 Henry William Beechey (d. 1870?, painter & explorer)
 Sir George Nayler (1764?-1831, Garter King-of-arms
 Thomas Joseph Pettigrew (1791-1865, surgeon & antiquary)
 Robert Lemon (1799-1835, archivist).

The Society of Antiquaries of London was granted a royal charter in 1751, but is now generally designated without the word 'royal' in the name.
