![]() BYRON, George Gordon, Lord (1788-1824). Poet. Autograph envelope-front, signed in the lower left-hand corner and addressed to the Reverend F[rancis] Wrangham in Bridlington, London, 11 May 1813. The address-panel of a hitherto unknown letter. No letters from Byron to Wrangham appear to have survived. In May 1814, rather more than a year after the date of this piece, Byron was writing to Samuel Rogers expressing his regret that he had yet again failed to meet Wrangham, adding, perhaps apropos some specific subject, 'I would have written to him - but a few words from you will go further ...'. [See Letters, ed Marchand, IV, page 128 and n].. [No: 6960]
