COROT, Camille (1796-1875). French landscape painter.
Autograph Letter Signed, in French, to an unnamed correspondent, ½-page 8vo, Paris, 22 September 1872. Declaring that their time had come and they are to leave on a trip to produce work which will astonish the world.
Corot made two trips in 1872, one earlier in the year to Beauvais, visited the Ardennes, stopped at Douai, Rouen, Yport and stayed at Criqueboeuf with his friends Badin and Dieterie. Later, he went to Luzancy where he worked in the company of a young painter, Alexandre Bouché, and it is probably the latter to whom this letter is addressed.
