GEORGE V (1865-1936). King of England.
Autograph Letter Signed (as King 'George R.I.') to Mrs Arthur [Sassoon], 2 pages 8vo, Balmoral Castle (gold initial surrounding crown and 'V'), 5 September 1911. A charming thank-you letter for his pleasant stay at Tulchan [Lodge], the Sassoons' Scottish home.
'... We had a very pretty drive & ate your excellent luncheon by the road side in the heather & were not molested by tourists or anyone ...'
Arthur Abraham David Sassoon (1840-1912), great-uncle of the poet, had been a member of the Marlborough House Circle.
