KEROUALLE, Louise, Duchess of Portsmouth (1649-1734). Mistress of Charles II.
Autograph Letter Signed ('La duchesse de Portsmouth') in French to 'Monsieur le grand Tresoryer' [Sir Thomas Osborne, Earl of Danby and Lord High Treasurer], 2 pages 4to. Integral address-leaf with small red wax seal, no place, 16 June 1676. Thanking Osborne profusely and elaborately for his past and present favours.
The DNB states that she took great care to maintain friendly terms with the powerful Danby 'to whom it is said that she at one time granted a share of her favours' (volume 31, page 59).
