BRITTON, John (1771-1857). Antiquary, topographical & architectural writer.
Autograph Letter Signed to L. Pocock, 2 pages 16mo, 20 June 1845. Informing Pocock that he had alluded to his ownership of [William Henry] Ireland's forgeries.

'Understanding from Jones that you possess the originals of Ireland's Shakesperean forgeries. I have noticed the fact in alluding to circumstances connected with the event in a note to a memoir of John Aubrey - now nearly finished.'

It is not clear what the connection could be between Aubrey (1626-1697) and Ireland (1775-1835).
