LOWRY, L[aurence] S[tephen] (1887-1976). Artist.
Good Autograph Letter Signed to Mr Brooke, 1 page 4to (Basildon Bond - two filing holes), The Elms, Stalybridge Road, Mottram-in-Longdendale, 6 December 1963. Discussing paintings, specifically one in Salford Art Gallery, and enclosing a cheque

'... Thank you for your letter about that one in Salford Art Gallery. I'll have it here for 3 months or so, for I expect to work on it quite a bit then.

The other one looks very well & I am very glad to have had it divided.

I am pleased to enclose Remittance for £36-5-3 as the enclosed a/c. You are a good boy!! ...'

'[PS] I have one more picture (a large one) at Sheila Fell's but I'll leave it over until after Xmas & bring it across. ...'

The artist, Sheila Fell (1931-1979) was a lifelong friend of Lowry, who bought about twenty of her paintings.
