GEORGE II (1683-1760). King of Great Britain and Ireland. Elector of Hanover.
Document Signed (somewhat faintly), 1 page large folio on vellum (lacking papered seal) with blue revenue stamps, given at his court at Kensington, 13 June 1744. Appointing Wenman Nutt a captain lieutenant in the regiment of foot commanded by Lieutenant General Barnell.

Countersigned by the Duke of Newcastle ('Holles Newcastle'), secretary of state.

Wenman Nutt and his wife Mary were both witnesses in the adultery trial of Dame Anne Colleton, accused of giving birth to a child which could not be her husband's as he was away in South Carolina for a considerable time prior to the birth.
