POTTER, John (1673/4-1747). Archbiship of Canterbury.
Signature ('Jo[annes] Cant[uariensis]') at the head of a partial document, a 4to (oblong) piece cut from the full document and laid down on an album leaf.

Signed also by the Lords Justices Charles Lennox, second duke of Richmond (1701-1750), William Cavendish, third duke of Devonshire (1698-1755), John Montagu, second duke of Montagu (1690-1749), Philip Yorke, first earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764, Lord Chancellor) and Charles Sackville, second duke of Dorset (1711-1769).

The document is undated except for the mention of 1727 in the text, which authorises an unspecified payment (because the document is incomplete), but after 1737 when Potter was anointed Archbishop.
