EAST INDIA COMPANY
Two military commissions, 2 pages folio on vellum with the usual two vertical folds, 1846 and 1853.
Both are commissions for Henry Leslie Grove, the first as an ensign of infantry, issued under the authority of the Marquess of Tweedale, 'Governor and Commander in Chief of the Fort and Garrison of Fort Street George, and Town of Madraspatam [Madras]'; the second as a lieutenant in the Third Madras European Regiment, signed by the governor, Sir Henry Eldred Pottinger, and others.
