MEDIEVAL DOCUMENT - Isle of Wight
Grant on vellum, 138 x 214 mm. (ca. 5½ x 8½ inches), undated but before 1290. Lacking seal and a little soiled but otherwise in fine condition.

Grant by Henry Huse to Henry son of Walter de la Wiche of one parcel of land in the manor of Freskewatere (Freshwater, Isle of Wight), lying in the north part of the curtilage of Robert Quintyn, between the lane of William de Bosco and common pasture. To be held of the donor and his heirs by the grantee and his heirs and assignees (except religious and jews) in perpetuity, for an annual rent of one clove. Warranty clause. For the grant, Henry son of Walter de la Wiche has given the donor 20 shillings and 6 pence. Witnesses: Walter to Feringeford (Farringford - later the home of Alfred, Lord Tennyson), and six other named persons. Three-line contemporary endorsement in another hand.
