'In answer to your letter you have my permission to publish your Peter Pan [illegible] in the newspaper, so long as it is clearly understood they are not published in book form, which would not do ...' Peter Pan was first staged in 1904 and 'broke all previous theatrical records and proved Barrie's most enduring success' (R.D.S. Jack in ODNB). There followed in book form Peter Pan in Kensinton Gardens in 1906, and Wendy in 1911. [No: 26174]
