GOLDING, Sir William (1911-1993). Novelist. Autograph Letter Signed to an unnamed correspondent, 1 page 4to, on embossed writing paper of Essle Traton, Bower Chalke, Salisbury, 1 October 1974. Suggesting that a library would provide complete details [of his works], and revealing that his own favourite is The Inheritors. The Inheritors was written while Golding was still teaching, taking only twenty-eight days to complete. It tells of the extinction of a peace-loving Neanderthal tribe by the more sophisticated group of homo sapiens. [No: 26127]
