PATTI, Adelina (1843-1919). Operatic soprano.
Autograph Letter Signed ('Adelina Patti Nicolini') to Miss Flynn, 3½ pages 8vo (traces of former mounting on the back), Craig-y-nos Castle, South Wales, 19 April 1893. A rather belated thank-you letter for a 'charming little souvenir' sent at Christmas and apologising for the delay, which she attributes to her overwhelming success.

'... You, no doubt, heard of the enormous success I had at Nice and Milan this winter, and it would be impossible for me to describe the ovations and receptions I met with everywhere. We are now enjoying ourselves immenseley in our beautiful home ...'

Craig-y-nos Castle is the home in the Swansea valley where she had built an elaborate and beautiful theatre for her own use. It is now (or was recently) an hotel. The letter bears her elaborate monogram and address in bright turquoise and gold.
