SPENDER, Sir Stephen Harold (1909-1995). Poet and critic.
Autograph Letter Signed to Charles Robinson at Du Boulay's, ½-page 4to (oblong) with envelope, no place, no date [postmarked St John's Wood, 14 March 1950]. Thanking Robinson for his 'kind appreciation', and declaring himself to be too busy to get away for several months.

Du Boulay's is a boarding house at Winchester College where Robinson was presumably a housemaster.

Spender's The God that Failed had been published in January of this year and his World Within World appeared in April of the following year, so his plea of overwork appears justified.
