REEVES, (John) Sims (1818-1900). Singer.
Autograph Letter Signed to [Charles Lamb] Kenney, 3 pages 8vo with elaborate coloured crest, Grange Mount, Upper Norwood, 18 June 1877. Expressing the hope that the benefit he is to sing for Kenney ('a labour of love') will be a success.

'... I wish the Arena had been larger that a sufficiency might be realised to free you from all anxiety for some time to come. ...'

Kenney, a translator, primarily of operas including Lucia di Lammermoor and Le nozze di Figaro, suffered for many years from an incurable disease. A concert to benefit him took place in the Gaiety Theatre two days after this letter was written.
