Autograph Letter Signed to an unnamed correspondent, 3 pages 8vo, 5 Henrietta Street, Covent Garden, 27 March 1854. Thanking his correspondent for keepng his name on the Adelphi free list ('although the delights of the country have quite won me away from gas lamps and organge peels'), and inviting him to his country abode (in Wandsworth).

'...It is not ill health that has led me to be a country gentleman, but the pleasure of having entered into new bonds with a lady who is one of the best British botanists of the day ...'

The lady in question was Martha Reeve, whom Reeve married in this year.
