BROWNING, Robert (1812-1889). Poet.
Fine platinotype photograph signed and dated 8 November 1886 on the photographer's mount, the image 157 x 110 mm. (ca 6 x 4½ inches). The mount lightly soiled and a faint stain to the image (less visible in the original than in the scan). Inscribed on the reverse 'Photographed by / W.H. Grove / 9 Pembroke Square / Kensington'.


Another example of this picture is in the National Portrait Gallery, described as a 'Photographed at home', and misdated 1889.
