![]() GRAVES, Robert (1895-1985). Poet. Autograph Letter Signed to Richard Loe written below a typescript (carbon) of his poem 'The sweet-shop round the corner', 1 page 4to (A4), Deya, Mallorca, 3 May 1965. Slight offsetting at the head indicating that Graves had folded the paper whilst the ink was wet. Also included is the original airmail envelope in Graves's hand. The typescript was evidently sent by Graves as a peace offering: 'For Mary Timothy's sake [unidentified from biographies]; I owed her a letter, which was on my conscience'. The poem is to be found in Graves's Collected Poems. Two typescripts of it are to be found among the Robert Graves papers in the Special Collections Research Center of Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
