ELGAR, Sir Edward (1857-1934). Composer.
Autograph Music Quotation Signed of the first two bars in the treble clef of the opening of Part II of The Dream of Gerontius, dated 11 March 1920. On a small piece, 55 x 80 mm. (c. 2¼ x 3 inches), laid down on a album leaf.

When giving musical quotations, which he did rather reluctantly, Elgar generally quoted the opening bars of the work. This quotation is of the highest notes starting in bar 4 of the second part.
