GODWIN, William (1756-1836). Novelist and philosopher.
Autograph Letter Signed to the book-collector Thomas Hill (1760-1840) in Henrietta Street, Covent Garden, 1 page 8vo with address-leaf, no place, 20 August 1802. Returning borrowed books and asking for another.

'I send you Nicholson's Libraries & the first edition of [Edward] Phil[l]ips's Theatrum Poetarum. I did expect to have been able to make a larger parcel, but as far as I can discover on a slight examination, there now remain only eight volumes of yours in my possession, & these I should be glad to detain a short time longer.
'Have you [Joseph] Strutt's Manners & Customs of the English People? I greatly want to consult it; &, if you could accommodate me, I would return it, if you wish me to do so, in a week. ...'
