Autograph Letter Signed to [John] Cordy Burrows, 1½ pages 8vo with blank leaf and envelope, Edinburgh, 23 October 1861. Thanking Burrows for an invitation to the opening 'of your new museum', and declining on the grounds of other engagements.

Burrows was a prominent citizen and surgeon of Brighton, of which town he was mayor on three occasions. He was a member of several learned societies. There is a statue to him close to his home at 62 Old Steine, Brighton, the address on the envelope to the present letter.
