RAGLAN, Fitzroy Somerset, 1st Baron (1788-1855). Commander of British troops in the Crimea.
Autograph Letter Signed ('Fitzroy Somerset') to Sir James, 2½ pages 8vo (rather tatty with traces of former mounting, soiling and the second, presumably blank, half of the 4th page excised), Horse Guards, 13 October 1852. Acknowledging Sir James's letter of congratulations on his accession to the Order of the Bath.

'... I am much flattered by your congratulations ... as well as by the terms in which you allude to our long official intercourse which I am proud to say has always been carried on without a shade of disagreement or any other than the best feeling on both sides. ...'
