PULLEN, William John Samuel (1813-1887). Naval officer.
Autograph Letter Signed to the Ship's Doctor, R. McCormick, 2 pages 8vo with envelope, H.M. Ship North Star, 6 November 1852. A lengthy apology for having ordered McCormick to go below on a previous occasion, assuring him that it was not meant as an arrest or a slur upon McCormick's reputation.
'... Believe me it was done in a moment of irritation when laboring under great anxiety; and as you, I am sure, know, will be my lot while the Ship is in her present critical position. ...'
The North Star was at this time engaged in the search for survivors of Sir John Franklin's expedition, and was wintering at Beechey Island.
