PULLAN, Richard Popplewell (1825-1888). Architect & archaeologist.
Autograph Letter Signed to the engineer and antiquary [Hyde] Clarke, 4 pages 8vo, 15 Clifford Mews, 22 December 1867. Regretting that Clarke had purchased his book on Asia Minor before he had a chance to give it to him, and outlining his archaeological plans.
'... we have not made great progress in our scheme for rebuilding Constantinople but have contrived to interest the Turkish Ambassadors in London and Paris in it which is a point gained. ... Mrs Pullen longs to get back to Turkey as she dislikes this dark foggy climate ... so that I shall seize any opportunity of going back as the Consulship seems to hang fire. ...'
