Autograph Letter Signed to another artist, Henry [?Gastineau], 4 pages 8vo, Greenfield House, Harborne, Birmingham, 19 December 1840. The fourth page a little soiled and with two small mounting strips.
 Expressing concern for his friend sketching in the cold in Wales.
'... do not sit out to make very elaborate sketches. Try to put in some effects from recollections at the Inn, as small studies from your faithful out line ... you will have an opportunity of seeing the different streams in full water. ...'
Also expressing his regret that Conway is 'likely to be spoiled by the railway', and asking his friend to pass on his remembrances to various acquaintances.
