Autograph Letter Signed to the publisher A[ndrew] Elliot in Edinburgh, 2 pages 8vo with blank leaf and envelope, Hawarden, 9 December 1886. Thanking him for his kindness.

'... I shall examine the work with great interest. I also sincerely thank you for your attention, which never failed, in connection with the publication of my Midlothian & other Speeches.'

A rather faint pencilled note in an unidentified hand at the head reads: 'Note relating to The Psalms in History & Biography by the late Rev Dr Ker'. The work, by John Ker (presumably the presbyterian minister, 1819-1886) was published by Elliot in the latter year.
