GARRICK, Eva Maria [née Veigel] (1724-1822). Dancer, and widow of David Garrick.
Autograph Letter Signed to Charles Burney jnr., 1 page 8vo, address-panel laid down on the verso, some traces of mounting, no place, 8 May [1817]. Regretting that 'something unavoidable' prevents her from visiting the Burneys the following week, and ending 'I remain in the nintty [sic] fourth year of age'.
The scholar and book collector Charles Burney (1757-1817), here addressed as The Revd Dr Burney, was the son of the music historian Dr Charles Burney (1726-1814). After his death the British Museum acquired all of his extensive library, which included a large collection of newspapers and 400 volumes of material relating to the theatre. David and Eva Maria Garrick were among the theatrical stars who had frequently visited his father's house during his youth.

Autograph material by Eva Garrick is quite scarce.
