BARRIE, Sir James Matthew (1860-1937). Playwright and novelist.
Autograph Letter Signed to [Charles] Buchel (Karl August Büchel, 1872-1950, artist), 1 page 8vo with blank leaf, Leinster Corner, Lancaster Gate, 24 November 1904.
'Hearty congratulations indeed. Certainly I never had a poster that pleased me so much.'
Buchel was particularly known for his theatre posters and stage designs, and he worked closely with Barrie, Beerbohm Tree and others. Examples of his portraiture in oils are in the National Portrait Gallery and the Garrick Club.
