GEORGE III (1738-1820). King of the United kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
Document Signed, 1 page folio on vellum with papered royal seal and blue revenue stamps, given at St James's, 5 April 1786. Appointing Viscount Falkland a lieutenant in the forty-third or Monmouthshire regiment of foot 'commanded by Our Trusty and Welbeloved General George Cary'. Countersigned by Thomas Townshend, first Viscount Sydney.
Charles John Cary (or Carey), ninth Viscount Falkland (1768-1809), captain in the royal navy and friend of Byron, died after a drunken duel with his friend Arthur Powell.
