FREMIET, Emmanuel (1824-1910). French scuptor. Autograph Letter Signed to a gentleman, 1 page 8vo with integral blank, no place, no date. Explaining why, after careful thought, he must decline to try and influence the superintendent on his correspondent's behalf, as such action would be inappropriate, and assuring his correspondent that his refusal does not denote any lessening of his affection for him or mean that he values their friendship the less. Frémiet's best-known sculpture in Paris is the equestrian statue of Joan of Arc in the place des Pyramides. He succeeded Barye as professor of animal drawing at the Muséum d'Histoire Naturelle. [No: 25419]
