'... Could you manage without inconvenience to call at the Ch[ancellor] of the Exch[equ]er in Downing Street tomorrow morning at 12.30 so as to go over the paper once more with a view of putting it in perfect shape for laying on the table on Thursday.'

Reginald (later Sir Reginald) Francis Douce Palgrave (1829-1904) was from 1886 to 1900 clerk of the House of Commons, having previously been clerk assistant for sixteen years.
