Autograph Letter Signed to Luigino [Franchetti], 2 pages 8vo (small, original ink smudge), Charleston, Firle, Sussex, 30 April 1937. Promising to look out suitable autographs, and to call upon Franchetti on his proposed visit to Italy ('I want to see the Giotto exhibition'), and recalling happy days.
'... Yes, what fun that winter in Rome was - with the Jebbs and Mary Baker, the Cesaro and the Bassiano - to say nothing of the American ambassadress and Lady [?]d'Abrum. And those extraordinary rooms let me by Lady Rodd ...'
Franchetti was an Italian educated at New College, Oxford, who had a successful career as a distinguished pianist.
