LANGTRY, Emilie Charlotte, 'Lillie' (1853-1929). Actress.
Autograph Letter Signed ('Lillie Langtry') to Mr Holles, 1 page small 4to with integral blank leaf , Carlton Hotel, Pall Mall, no date. A brief but rather ingenious letter: 'So sorry but I don't like the character in your clever play'.
The Carlton Hotel, on the corner of Pall Mall and Haymarket, was demolished in 1957 to make way for the concrete and glass New Zealand House, now itself a listed building.
