Good long Autograph Letter Signed to Luigino, 4 pages 8vo, 4 rue de l'Abbe, 12 November 1877 (mistakenly written '1977'. Ranging over a variety of subjects including the new Mantegna at the Louvre ('I still prefer yours'), the poetry of Romanes, and his meeting with Bergson.
'... He [Bergson] was prepared to talk generalities with us and did not at all grasp that [we] were going to preach to him a new gospel of art. ...'
 'He spoke of the collapse of religion owing to the decay of dogma which left us today without religion, and he recognized the importance of art in the juncture while we were looking round for a new faith ...'
