DARWIN, Charles (1809-1882). Naturalist.
Autograph Letter Signed ('Ch. Darwin') to an unnamed correspondent ('My dear Sir'), 1 page 8vo (a little creased),'Down Bromley Kent', 13 April, no year. Thanking his correspondent for writing, and arranging to meet him in London the following week.
'I thank you extremely for your kind note. - The day after writing to you, I found quite unexpectedly that I am forced to come to London on Tuesday, & will on one day in middle of week, most gladly call on you in the morning.'
Darwin used the handwritten address 'Down Bromley Kent' only between 1843-1846 and 1855-1861.
We have been unable to locate this letter among those published by The Darwin Project, and there is little in the text to help identify the correspondent.
