ARNOLD, Matthew (1822-1888). Poet and critic.
Autograph Letter Signed to W. Rossiter, 1 page 8vo on black-edged paper of the Athenaeum (blind stamp), 14 September 1869. Declining to lecture at the South London College.
'... I have refused all invitations of the kind, and must continue to refuse them so long as I am engaged as at present.'
Arnold is presumably referring to his day job as Inspector of Schools.
