IRELAND, John Nicholson (1879-1962). Composer, organist and pianist.
Autograph Letter Signed to the conductor [Ivan] Clayton, 1 page 8vo, 14 Gunter Terrace, 24 October 1946. Making arrangements to go to Sadler's Wells the following morning.
A typewritten copy of a note from Clayton explains that Ireland came to an orchestral rehearsal of a ballet to be performed to his music. Clayton generously observes that Ireland had made several helpful suggestions, noting that Ireland was not 'a theatre man' and was not entirely pleased with having his music used for dance.
