GRAFTON, Augustus Henry, third duke of (1735-1811). Prime Minister 1768-1770. Letter Signed ('Grafton') to an unnamed correspondent, 1 page 8vo (oblong), Euston, 12 September 1807. Explaining that he had forwarded an appeal with a letter to the vice chancellor asking him to hear it on account of the state of his own health. The duke had been installed as chancellor of the university of Cambridge in 1769 having been elected the previous year. He held the post until his death in 1811 when he was succeeded by the Duke of Gloucester and Edinburgh. Provenance: from a collection formed by A.M. Broadley in 1903. [No: 24728]
