GRAFTON, Augustus Henry, third duke of (1735-1811). Prime Minister 1768-1770.
Autograph Letter Signed ('Grafton') without salutation, to [Josiah] Wedgwood at his warehouse in Greek Street, Soho, 1 page 4to with address-leaf, Wakefield Lodge, 4 August 1791. Asking for wash basins and candlesticks to be sent, presumably for works taking place at Wakefield Lodge, one of Grafton's two country estates (the other being Euston Hall in Suffolk).
'Mr Wedgwood is desired to send by the next Monday's Towcester waggon directed to the Duke of Grafton near Stony Stratford
6 wash hand basons & ewers, with coloured edges, of different colours, 2 of each to match.

Two Pair of hand candlesticks different colour & size.
Goods sent into the Country ought always to be examined with more attention; as a faulty shape etc is more difficult to replace.'
