DAMER, Anne Seymour (1748-1828). Sculptress. Ward of Horace Walpole.
Autograph Letter Signed [to Sir Joseph Banks], 2 pages 4to (endorsement and traces of mounting on the reverse), Upper Brook Street, 2 June 1802. Regarding the gift of seeds etc. to Madame Bonaparte (i.e. Josephine, later Empress), presumably for her garden at Malmaison.
'I transmit to you a note which I have received from Madame Bonaparte, through Mr Merry [Anthony Merry, 1756-1835, diplomat] our Minister, and which most particularly concerns you - it is, I think, uncommonly polite and obliging & I doubt not but you will, as far you can, comply with her request. I believe I mentioned to you my having taken the liberty of joining your name with mine in the envoy of seeds etc which I made ...'
