PHILLIPS, Wendell (1811-1884). American abolitionist, advocate for Native Americans & orator.
Autograph Letter Signed to his namesake, Wendell Phillips Hale ('my dear little boy'), 4 pages 8vo (bit of a corner missing, not affecting the text), no place, May 1873. Thanking the young boy for the gift of a book (I have read Mr Thomas' account of his visit here with great pleasure') and inviting him to visit when he is in Boston.
'... Be a good child & learn all the good ways & things mother tells & teaches you. ...'
