CHURCHILL, Sir Winston Spencer (1874-1965). Attractive Document Signed, on a printed card, ca 90 x 115 mm (3½ x 4½ inches), 6 December 1906. Permitting his name to be added to the list of patrons for the South African Products Exhibition in London, 1907. South Africa was a dominating issue in the Parliament of 1906. Churchill, newly appointed under secretary for the Colonies, was charged with the task of drafting a constitution for the Transvaal. His interest in South Africa was keen throughout his career. The exhibition in question was opened by the King and was mounted to promote the new South Africa following the Boer Wars. [No: 24158]
