MOUNTBATTEN, Lord Louis, 1st Earl (1900-1979). Admiral of the Fleet.
Typewritten Letter Signed to Ronald Duncan with autograph superscription and corrections, 1 page folio, on official Flag Officer Commanding writing paper, 21 May 1949. Assisting Duncan with material for his forthcoming book on Gandhi's writings, mentioning that he had asked for Pandit Nehru's advice, and suggesting that Gandhi's secretary might be helpful.
'... I showed him your letter and he said that the only writing of Gandhi's that he knew of in the last two years of his life were those he wrote for his own paper "Harijan". If however you count the daily sermon which he delivered at his prayer meetings and which were usually transcribed and published in the local press then there will be all those to include. ...'
Duncan's Selected Writings of Mahatma Gandhi was published in 1951.
