GEORGE III (1738-1820). King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
Autograph Letter Signed ('G.R.') to William Pitt, the prime minister, ½-page 4to with endorsed second leaf, Queen's House, 20 March 1785. The second leaf is endorsed by George Pretyman, Bishop of Lincoln ('G.L.').
'The shorter the Message in answer to the letter from the Prince of Wales can be framed the less room is there for its not being understood; with that view the enclosed has been drawn up, any alteration or addition Mr Pitt may think necessary will be willing [sic] received.'
Letters from George III to any of this prime ministers are of some rarity on the market.
