ORLEANS, Robert d', Duke of Chartres (1840-1910). Military man; grandson of King Louis-Philippe.
Autograph Letter Signed to an unnamed lady ('Madame'), 2 pages 8vo on black-edged paper (remains of red wax seal mounting on blank leaf), Morgan House, Ham, Surrey, 16 October 1869. Regretting that he has no photograph of the Duchess to send to Washington, D.C., as requested by his correspondent.
The Duke fought for the Union Army in the American Civil War.
