The third day of the reign

GEORGE III (1738-1820). King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
Fine early Document Signed ('George R.' at the head), 1 page folio (oblong, on vellum), papered seal and revenue stamps, partly printed, St James's, 27 October 1760. Appointing John McDonald lieutenant of a company in the eighty-ninth regiment of foot '(or battallion of Highlanders)'. Countersigned by [Robert D'Arcy] earl of Holdernesse (1718-1778).
George III had succeeded to the throne on the death of his father, George II on 25 October 1760, only two days before signing the present document, which is in fine clean condition apart from a few minor stains.
