OPIE, Amelia (1769-1853). Novelist and poet.
Part of an autograph manuscript, 2 pages 4to (a note of identification written across the text), no place, no date. A dialogue between 'P' and 'E', railing against the iniquities of bad laws.
'... If a just ruler were to succeed to Nicholas, I shd have hope of seeing your country even yet lift her worn brow to be again crowned with plenty, & smile once more in the face of him who wd redeem her. But bad laws corrupt the very sources of prosperity. ...'
