HENRIETTA MARIA (1609-1669). Queen of Charles I.
Fine Autograph Letter Signed in French ('henriette MarieR') to Henry Rich, Lord Holland, her High Stewart and favourite, 1 page 4to with address-leaf, no place, no date but ca 1633. With address-leaf bearing two small red seals with crowns, traces of green silk ties, the folds indicating that the letter was sent as a very small packet. With typewritten transcription of the original French.
'I would consider it an injustice to the bearer of this letter to deprive him of telling you the news from here (though there is so little that he will have trouble telling it). So I will revert to my usual style and assure you that you have no more faithful friend than I, and I hope that my deeds will always make this clear; if the opportunities [to demonstrate it] are not forthcoming, the will is never lacking. With this assurance you may believe me Your affectionate friend Henrietta Maria R.'
