KIPLING, Rudyard (1865-1936). Author.
Fine Autograph Letter Signed to [George Earle] Buckle (1854-1935, editor and biographer), 1 page 8vo (a couple of small stains), Bateman's, Burwash, Sussex, 22 December 1920. Thanking him for 'Queen Victoria's Letters', which he has read aloud to his wife.
'... You've set (if this isn't an impertinence) the character so superbly in its dominance and its detail - the Mother-in-Law of all the Kings: the anxious Imperial house-keeper: the very great sorrow and the exasperatingly interferesome Beldame who must have, now and then, ridden Salisbury nigh to death, that I've ... wanted to cheer aloud over it. ...'
